Shore Siege!

"Very nice game"

submission: Shore Siege!
date: September 3, 2008

The game is rather simple. I've seen this kind of idea a few times before, but this one was kinda different. Maybe because of the art, maybe because of the theme... I don't know, it was just different from what I've seen before. I think this made this game a little more special.

The drawings were very good. I forgot to read the "author comments", but I could easily figure out who inspired the art. Dan Paladin is sure a great artist. The sounds were also nice, matching with the "pirate" theme. Well done.

The game itself was great. It seemed a little boring in the beginning (where we could only use the little nail), but it got constantly better, with the new enemies & weapons. What bothered me a little was the way you have to select the weapons. Maybe if there were a short-cut to them, like some hotkeys or similar...

Overall, a great game, very enjoyable. I really like your games, they're very creative. Keep up the good work!

Clock Trouble

"HoOoOoday hOoOo!"

submission: Clock Trouble
date: July 4, 2008

Hahaha, this was a nice one. I have never heard that prank before, and animation it was a great idea.

The animation was pretty good. Simple, yet well-made. Something I liked a lot were your "visual recreations" on the prank, like the "Grandfather Clock, now with chimey-chimey" thing. The musics you used were... ehh... alright. I also liked the random pictures in the background, they were pretty funny.

However, I couldn't understand some parts of the prank. It would be better if you added subtitles or something like that, it would make things easier to understand.

Overall I thought it was a nice movie with great animated jokes, but if you added subtitles it would make things better.

Delayed Radar

"Good idea, but not very well executed"

submission: Delayed Radar
date: June 24, 2008

I enjoed playing this game. It was fun, a little addictive and it had a quiteinteresting concept, which I thought was pretty original. However, the execution of the idea wasn't very well done.

Before anything else, I'd like to point out some things that you could correct in a next version. First, the energy bar isn't displayed on the top right of the screen as you said, but in the top left of the screen. Second, everytime I put the radar over the "Play music" button, the song starts playing, even when it's stopped. And when it's playing, it starts again. and finally, the guns sfx in the menu is too loud, reduce it a little next time.

Despite the mini-glitches listed above, this game wasn't bad. As I already said, I think the idea is quite original and it can turn into something better. The time in some missions was also a good addition, you could put it into more missions. I liked the song you used, I think it matched with the game pretty well. The obstacles made the game more challenging, but if you added more kinds of obstacles then it could have been a better game.

Here are some things that I think that can be improved or added to make this game even better: more kinds of obstacles, more kinds of enemies, a certain number of attempts to find the orbs (you can just click in random places if you want to find the orb) and fixing the glitches.

Overall, it wasn't a bad game, but his could have been better. It has a nice idea, but take your time to improve it.

Chalk Adventure

"Nice movie, very creative"

submission: Chalk Adventure
date: April 19, 2008

Wow, this must have taken a lot of time to create, didn't it? As you said, you spent more than one sitting doing it, but how many sittings did you need to finish this? Just out of curiosity.

Well, the movie itself was great, I really liked it. I liked the drawings and its transformations, must have been hard to do them. I found it very creative how you transformed a drawing into another. Also, the sounds were great, both the FX and the music, nice choice.

But you could improve on this. Instead of having all those light changes, you could have use a lamp in a steady place, so the light would be the same the entire movie. And I think you should try using some coloured chalks, to give more attention to the most important parts. I know this would take a lot more time, but it would be worth.

Nice movie. I hope you get a better award next time you submit a movie. Great work, keep up!

Author's Response:

Hm. I'd say over the course of two days. , I sat down to work on it 5-6 times.
I varied in lengths. Sometimes I would sit, do something for 30 minutes, get frustrated and move on.
But when I first started I sat at it for 2-3 hours. The rest were in between.
Good question.

The trouble with the lamp (I did try it) was that it created a glare on my chalkboard.
So my chalkboard was half taken up by a huge glare where you couldn't see anything.
In a way I think the light changes make it seem more real, and less generic.

I'm hoping for a solo award some day. So I'm gonna stop cutting myself short when I know the movie can be longer/better.

Freddy

"Great movie"

submission: Freddy
date: March 25, 2008

This movie was very funny. I loved almost everything on it. I watched it over five times, not joking.

The graphics were very good. I liked mostly the character drawings, they were very well done. The backgrounds were nice, very detailed. The lipshynching was good, but in a small part of the movie it wasn't very good, when they were being arrested. The monkey was talking, but his mouth wasn't moving. Just a little something you should improve.

I liked a lot the audio. The voices were great, easy to understand what they were saying. The songs you used were very good, mostly U2 and Linking Park.

The music scene when the monkey turns emo was alright, but it got repetitive. It lasted for too long, I think. Cut a small part of it, or add more things there, like a cop coming and ending their fun. Also, why could they listen to music in jail?

A great movie, overall. Some parts need to be a little better. I added this movie to my favourites, I liked it a lot.

Thanks! Glad you watched it over five times. And music in jail... well, seeing I'm the creator, I guess my jails have music allowed. ;)

Samus and Company

"Not bad"

submission: Samus and Company
date: March 20, 2008

First, I have to say that I don't like sprite movies a lot. No special reasons, I just don't find them amusing.

Yours was quite good. I can't say anything about the graphics, since they're sprites. But you used the sprites in a nice way, better than some I've seen. The battle scene was alright, but I didn't understand why were they fighting. I expect the sequel to explain it. =)

The music was nice, I liked the ending one mostly. I also liked the sounds you used from Mario, good addition.

It was a short movie, so I suggest that the sequel is longer than this one. I also suggest you to make another batlle scene, this one didn't last long. Use more sprites, don't stick only to Mario and Samus. Good movie, but I want to see a better sequel.

Author's Response:

Well thanks for the input :) The sequel should indeed explain why they were fighting. I've been a bit discouraged about using sprites lately, but I think I'll finish this story before I consider changing anything.

Yea the last song was my favorite too :P It took me a while to put all the sounds in the right spots, but I'm pretty happy with the result. Everything was timed pretty well.

I'm hoping the sequel will be longer, and I'm pretty sure it will be. This battle was so short because I was mainly goofing around. I'll definitely use more sprites. I'm thinking of using a bunch of Mario characters and enemies, but we'll see what happens.

Thanks a lot for your review :)

"Very funny!"

date: March 18, 2008

This was one of the best collabs that I've seen in a while. It's much better than the past Twin Trash movies, mostly by its creativity. All the parts were very creative, specially the toast one.

It was a very funny movie as well. I couldn't stop laughing after finishing it. It amazed me a lot.

The drawings were very well done, despite the lach of a background most of the times. It would be better if the scenes had backgrounds, and making the characters "interact" with it, if you know what I mean...

Excellent movie, great job that the three of you made. I hope to see a lot more from this series!

Goat Trip

"Amazing!"

submission: Goat Trip
date: March 13, 2008

Somehow this movie was amazing, it shows that you shouldn't eat mushrooms, ever! Otherwise you'll end up being eaten by a Yoshi. Hahaha, this was very funny!

The drawings were very good, I really liked them. The song was nice, very crazy. This movie was very funny, I couldn't stop laughing after it thinking about the scenes.

Was it random? Yeah, quite a lot, actually. But in a good way, with very funny random parts. The scenes I liked the most were the ones that showed what was the goat really doing during his "small" trip.

Great job, I added this movie to my favourites. I hope this gets an award, or even a place on the front page! Amazing, keep up!

From Life to Death

"... I don't know what to say"

submission: From Life to Death
date: March 13, 2008

This movie is very touching, from a point of making you think if you will do that to your children. It has an important message and I don't think it can be taken as a joke. I recomended it to "Serious Shorts" toons, I hope it to get a place there.

Ok, the graphics were good, I find amusing that style of drawing. However, some colours you used to make some characters (like the priest) were very light, in a light background, making it hard to see some of the characters. You should have used darker colours, in order to make some of the characters more visible.

The music was excellent, matched with the theme of life and death. The plot was also great. Nice movie, very different from other movies of yours that I watched recently. Well done.

What an awesome Dress up

"Good and original dress-up"

date: March 3, 2008

Hehe, I remember that I was at the Flash Portal when it came out. Actually, I was one of the first to watch it, and I thought it was different from the other dress-up games, because it had some original things that I haven't seen before in a dress-up game. Like the background options and animated acessories, I liked them, gave more originality and more options to the character. I also liked the music, although I think it didn't match with the theme, it should be a more calm song, like in a store.

I still think it needs more clothes options, maybye different clothes themes. Make also a small song selection list, if you make the different themes, one for each theme. It would be a great addition, I've never seen one before and I think it would be even front-page worth if it had one.

An above average dress-up, I've seen some better ones, but this one was also very original. Good job, come up with some improved ideas next time and who knows if you'll win a daily award.
